Light and Easy…..and My Car

To be honest to myself, I felt like this semester is very much easier. When i compare my current situation with the situation of my previous sem in the same time-frame, this time everything felt extremely lite and easy, and free, too.

On the previous semester for the frist two weeks, things had already become hellish. The tight weekly schedule, 12 subjects to rush, 100 over chapters to read into in 14 weeks, no time to rest and recover and we already starting to feel the heat.

This time everything felt much easier, maybe because we were used to the situations during the previous semester and during our STPM/A-Level situations. You can imagine a Special Ops soldier being trained to the limit and then he retires and work as a security guard. That’s the kind of difference i felt.

I’m not taking this for granted. Given that our schedule is linient, i’m feeling that people are expecting more from us. We have to show that we are capable. In other words, we really have to score flying colours. I dare not doubt our capabilities (as well as mine). So, i’m pretty confident that all of us could score the best we can.

Since this only the second week the second semester, we want to take things really easy on ourselves. We hang out at cyber-cafes for gaming during extensive break-hour. I would sometimes spend my time with my honey during lunch-break. That would take about two hours or so. That’s how easy things are for me now.

I realized i’m fond of my car as well. The charming old, 12 years running, locally made Proton Satria. It’s in green (rare colour) and it’s made in 1995. It’s that Proton Satria with the similar back of the Mitsubishi Mirage. It’s very old and you kinda expecting that my car would run like an old poorly maintained Datsun. And you might think that i am wierd, fonding an old car. But heck, it’s really good.

It’s a small simple car. It’s nimble, quick and a fun car. The best part is that it is in a rare green colour. I washed it almost every week. I’ve added some fiber-black skirtings and recently installed an alarm system (its alarm system was dead for some time). But those cosmetic accesories are nothing special, yet somehow made it look a little bit different and unique.

The most interesting part of the car is how the engine could still perform like a Lamboghini Gallardo’s engine with 6 pistons less and a little bit more economical, a little bit. It’s already more than 12 years old and the engine performance was splendid. It’s smooth, powerful, and sounds good. Even though that little 1.6 engine has only a single cam, it could still get you to 180km/h. I didn’t venture beyond that speed because 180km/h is fast enough for a small car.

I did 180 when the engine wasn’t in a very good condition. It’s piston rings are damaged, leaking lubricant, less efficient fuel burn and a very dirty oil filter. It couls still do 180 for me. So i sent the car to a workshop and the repair work cost me RM1000++. The result was even better. A slight touch of the throttle pedal sent a caution to you (don’t TOUCH too hard). Flick the the pedal a little bit more and you see yourself reeling out of a junction.

I’ll write more about my car. Gotta stop here. Need some sleep and music (at the same time, I’m a parallel working processor, but not dual-core)
